The programme will start in London & Surrey in the Summer term, and expand to more parts of the UK in September.
Why school outreach?
A lot of the issues we see with low participation levels in politics with young people is because they don't know anything about politics and how it works, it often feels completely alien. So we are trying to bridge this gap with a programme that will provide an introduction to politics for both KS3 & KS4 students.
How will it work?
The sessions will be 45 - 60 minutes long and will provide students with a basic understanding of politics and how it works in the UK. Most importantly, students will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.
By providing some information and context to politics in the UK, we hope in a small part to be able to combat the low levels of interest and participation in politics that young people have today.
Reach out to schools@ypolitics.co.uk to organise a session.
yPolitics Community:
School outreach will form just one part of the community yPolitics is building. We want to position ourselves as the home for young people interested in politics, and this requires us to have a proactive approach in making the case for engagement in politics no matter who you are.
